Mayya Bykov is one of the founding partners of Bykov Law. She received her Honours Bachelor of Administrative Studies from York University and her Juris Doctor from Osgoode Hall Law School. She spent several years working as counsel to the Ministry of the Attorney General and the Ministry of Finance before moving into private practice. During her time with the legal services branch of the Ministry of the Attorney General, Mayya has had a chance to contribute to high profile cases and projects, including the General Anti-Avoidance Rule trial, the Ontario Provincial Budget in 2014, Ornge Registered Charity, Tobacco Litigation, and Canadian pension plans. Mayya also regularly appeared in Provincial Offences Act courts and prosecuted high volumes of regulatory or quasi-criminal offences under the provincial tax legislation.
In her today’s private practice, Mayya specializes in real estate, business law, and estate planning areas. She deals with house and condominium sales and purchases, mortgage financing and refinancing, lease negotiation and drafting, private mortgages, and title transfers daily. She also assists her clients with will drafting and estate administration issues. Finally, Mayya has a great depth of experience dealing with many business and legal issues of her clients, including contract drafting, negotiation, tax consequences, and business formation and registration, among other issues. Mayya’s unique talents have helped countless businesses in Canada to make sense of the complex landscape of local and international business structures and financial regulations.
